- BBA alumni can make in-person career advising appointments within two years of graduation. After two years, and time permitting, alumni may still request in-person advising appointments.
- MBA, Global Asset & Wealth Management MBA, Master of Financial Risk Management, and Master of Science in Finance alumni can make in-person career advising appointments within three years of graduation. After three years, and time permitting, alumni may still request in-person advising appointments.
- Executive MBA and Management of Technology MBA alumni may request in-person career advising appointments at any time.
In addition to one-on-one advising sessions, the following services are available to all alumni:
- If you're looking to make a career change, attend a workshop at the Segal Graduate School. Topics range from resume writing to salary negotiations to networking. Register through Beedie Community.
- If you're experiencing an interruption in employment or are contemplating a career change, attend an upcoming career transitions group meeting. The goal is to offer educational and moral support, networking and camaraderie, along with a rotating weekly hands-on activity focused around the preparation, search, and securing of a new position. Our Executive Education division partners with leading associations and organizations to bring the most current and relevant learning to participants for the purpose of developing managers and professionals with the capacity to make a significant difference in their organizations or communities.
Open Enrolment Programs and Learning Events
Take charge of your career by enrolling in an Executive Education program, course, or innovative learning session:
At the organizational level, our Executive Education team will work with you to design and deliver customized learning to build management and leadership capacity in support of strategic priorities, business transformation, sustainability, and innovation. Program length varies, delivery is flexible, and fees are program specific. Examples include: leadership development for high-potentials, governance programs for senior leadership and board effectiveness, customized corporate degrees, and executive graduate certificates.
Explore life-long learning opportunities through SFU Continuing Studies. Part-time continuing education courses and programs (including online) are designed to fit your busy schedule. Most classes meet in the evenings or on weekends, and start throughout the year at both SFU’s downtown Vancouver and Surrey campuses. Review program information, including course catalogues.
The SFU Library encourages you to continue to use its resources and services in your pursuit of lifelong learning. Visit any of the three libraries (Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver) for complimentary access to most of the online databases. Begin by requesting a new username and password from staff at the checkout counter. Please remember to hold on to your SFU student card, as you’ll use this card to exercise your borrowing privileges.
Some journal subscriptions allow for alumni access off-campus or are “open access” (which means free to all). BC’s public libraries also provide some resources which are similar to what SFU offers, including versions of the “Business Source” article database. With a public library card, you are also able to search through these resources from home.
